Michael L. Klein
Of Counsel
Mr. Klein’s practice includes bankruptcy, business, and real estate transactions and litigation. Recent matters have included specific performance actions, prescriptive easements and commercial and residential real estate purchase and sale agreements. He has experience in entity creation, i.e. corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies and in resolving operating issues. He has drafted and reviewed complex real estate transactions, commercial and residential leases, and CC&Rs. The majority of his bankruptcy practice is debtor representation; however he recently appeared on behalf of a creditor before the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the 9th Circuit, addressing a matter of first impression regarding nondischargeability of debt involving oral misrepresentations.
Mr. Klein is a native of Brooklyn, NY. He has lived in Southern California since 1966. He and his wife, Anthea, have three sons. In 1978, Klein co-founded Grey Law, Inc., an organization that provided free legal services to senior citizens in Los Angeles County. In 1983, he moved to Oceanside and was a sole practitioner until 1985, when he joined the firm where he has practiced for the past 35 years.
Mr. Klein is extremely active in local community and civic affairs. He coached Little League and Youth Basketball for many years. He was President of the Oceanside Jaycees, Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis Club and its Foundation, Oceanside Boys & Girls Club, Casa de Amparo, and the North San Diego County Bar Association. He was Presiding Officer of the Manufactured Home Fair Practices Commission for the City of Oceanside and has served the Oceanside Yacht Club as its Judge Advocate for 20 years.
In addition to the practice of law and his community endeavors, Mr. Klein enjoys camping, fishing, basketball, kayaking, sailing, reading, and attending live theater and musical performances. Maintaining his Grey Law philosophy, for the past 18 years, Mr. Klein provides pro bono legal services at the Oceanside Senior Center.
